What's a good way to eradicate fleas off a wooden floor?

We've just moved to a 1-year old apartment. Lovely place, but its wooden floors have tiny flea-like bugs (?) that give nasty bites (from sole to knees). We've tried several kinds of insecticide spray. But nothing worked. Any suggestions? Thanks...
