2003 Dodge Durango 5.9L. How do I know if the Power steering pump is out?

no fluid left in the res...I added one quart and at first all was working for about 5 seconds, then I heard that same sound and quickly lost freedom of steering. Looked and all the fluid is out again...didnt drain on the ground anywhere... shut her down and thats where she sits. So, do I just need more fluid? obviously there is an issue if it drained, and a possible bigger issue that I dont know where it drained too. Please help diagnose so I can get it ready for sale in the spring. Dodge man?
